| Born 1976 in Kassel, Christian Weidner studied saxophone in Hamburg, Stockholm and Berlin, enjoying lessons with John Ruocco, Joakim Milder, Kamalesh Maitra, Charlie Mariano, Kenny Werner...
Since 1999 Weidner is living in Berlin. His current projects as a leader are the "Christian Weidner Quartett" with Colin Vallon (p), Henning Sieverts (b) and Samuel Rohrer (dr), the “Weidner Palesano Schröteler” trio with Antonio Palesano (p) and Daniel Schröteler (dr) and the “Royce” formations with Simon Stockhausen (electr). In addition he is working with several bands: Rainer Tempel´s (p) "Tempelektrisch" with Axel Schlosser (tp), Nils Wogram (tb), Frank Möbus (git), Wolfgang Zwiauer (b) and Jim Black (dr), Chris Dahlgren`s (b) "Lexicon" with Gebhard Ullmann (ts,bcl), Antonis Anissegos (p) and Eric Schäfer (dr) and Sebastian Merk`s (dr) "Merkur" With Kalle Kalima (git) and Andreas Edelmann (b) "Fo(u)r Alto" with Frank Gratkowski (as), Benjamin Weidekamp (as) and Florian Bergmann (as) "Dras" with Frank Gratkowski (as), Benjamin Weidekamp (as), Florian Bergmann (as) and Daniel Schröteler (dr) and Christian Marien (dr) "Morf" with Johannes Lauer (tb), Oli Potratz (b) and Moritz Baumgärtner (dr) "John Schröder (p) Quartett" with Oli Potratz (b) and Olli Steidle(dr) or Christian Lillinger (dr) Since 2006 he also subs in the islandic jazzfusionband “Mezzoforte”. In the past he experienced intense collaborations with Albert Mangelsdorff in the German- French-Jazzensemble and with Gunter Hampel in his various groups, playing with Perry Robinson, Willem Breuker a.o.. With these bands he played concerts and festivals throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and Northamerica, recorded various CDs and did various productions for Radio and TV stations.
